Booking a private boat cruise with Nautical Adventures is a great way to throw a fantastic party on the Toronto Harbour with your friends, colleagues and/or family. In this post I will walk you through what information is needed in order to provide you with pricing to rent one of our boats for a private charter and how to book your private boat cruise.
Information Required to Provide You with Pricing:
To provide you with detailed pricing let us know the basic details of the event including: the boat, date, time, menu, bar type and décor.
Choose A Boat:
Choosing the right boat for your event is the first step in hosting a private boat cruise with Nautical Adventures.
We offer two great boats as venue options for your party. We operate Canada’s largest passenger vessel the Tall Ship: Empire Sandy and our three level Motor Vessel: Wayward Princess. The Tall Ship: Empire Sandy has a capacity of 275 people and can seat 160 people at one time. The Wayward Princess has a capacity of 325 people and can seat 260 people at one time.
A tour of our boats can be arranged during our operating season from May to the end of September. Tours are booked by appointment only and subject to availability. Alternatively, you can view our virtual tours here at EventSource.
All of our boats are Transport Canada Certified and equip with the required lifesaving equipment. Please let us if you cannot decide which boat is more beautiful and will provide you with pricing on both options.
Date & Time:
Determine a date, or day of the week and time that works for your event. Make sure you don’t have any major conflicts and contact the most significant guests to ensure they don’t have any other prior commitments.
Consider what time of day is best for your type of event and whether this time will be convenient for your guests. Please keep in mind our charter rates (rental fees) are based on a four hour rental, including a half an hour boarding period, a three hour sail and a half an hour disembarking period. Additional time can be purchased.
Once a date and time is determined let us know and we can check availability for you. We can still provide you with pricing if you cannot narrow down a date. Just let us know what day or days of the week you are interested in and will provide you with the most detailed pricing possible.
Once you have determined the day of the week and the time of the event you will know what type of meal is suited to the event.
Nautical Adventures offers a wide selection of menus prepared onboard by our award winning chefs. We offer all different styles of meals from sit down dinners for up to 150 people, buffet style dinner and pass around hors d’oeuvres. Here is a link to our menu options. Another option is to cater your own food from a registered caterer. Please keep in mind that if you cater your own food a per person service fee applies and you are responsible to bring all of your own service staff for food service.
Number of Passengers:
To prepare the most detailed pricing consider the minimum and maximum number of passengers that will attend the event. Our menus and our beverage options are based on per person rates.
Both the Tall Ship: Empire Sandy and Motor Vessel: Wayward Princess are licensed to sell alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. We offer four different types of bars and combination bars for private parties.
- Cash Bar- Beverages are available for purchase at the bar.
- Drink Vouchers: Drink Vouchers can be arranged with a deposit at least one week prior to the cruise date. The drink vouchers can be used in exchange for any beverage on our menu. Billing is based on actual consumption. A credit or balance is issued the following business day after the cruise. 15% Gratuity is added to the final bar bill.
- Open Bar: An open bar can be arranged with an arranged deposit at least one week prior to the cruise date. Guests are offered unlimited beverages at the bar. Billing is based on actual consumption. A credit or balance is issued the following business day after the cruise. 15 % Gratuity applies to the final bar bill.
- Unlimited Pop and Juice-A per person deposit can be arranged for unlimited pop and juice at least one week prior to the cruise date.
Determine if you require any additional décor and if so provide us with a list of décor you would like to have on your Toronto boat cruise. All of our boat cruises include décor of white linen overlays, blue or green overlays and a floating flower centerpiece for each indoor table. We always suggest to keep in mind that the beauty of Toronto Island Lagoons, Toronto Skyline and waters of Lake Ontario are breathtaking and a great backdrop for any event.

Booking Your Toronto Boat Cruise with Nautical Adventures
The next step to hosting a private boat cruise with Nautical Adventures is booking your event. To book the cruise we require a deposit and signed contract. In order to draw up the contract, we require the following information from you.
- Name of the person signing the contract (must be 18 years of age with valid photo ID)
- Legal Address of the person signing the contract
- Name of the boat you would like to charter
- Boarding, Sailing and Return Time
- Any other details you have decided on pertaining to the menu, bar type, and décor.
- Number of passengers
